On 16th May 2026, Wema Centre successfully hosted WEMATHON 2026, its annual charity walk, run, and cycling event, bringing together individuals, schools, corporate partners, and community members in a vibrant show of solidarity for vulnerable children. WEMATHON 2026 aimed to raise funds toward the establishment of a medical clinic at Wema Centre, a critical initiative that will improve access to healthcare services for street-connected children and vulnerable communities.
This year’s event was flagged off by our Guest of Honour, Her Excellency Madam Tessie Musalia. In her address, she emphasized that protecting and empowering vulnerable children is a shared responsibility that requires collaboration between government, civil society, the private sector, and communities. She commended Wema Centre’s commitment to rescuing, rehabilitating, educating, and reintegrating vulnerable children, noting that every child deserves dignity, protection, and access to opportunities that enable them to thrive.
During the event, participants took part in competitive walking, running, and cycling categories, while others joined an exciting Zumba session led by Olivia. Families and children enjoyed entertainment from mascots, a treasure hunt, music, delicious food courtesy of La Fattoria, and a variety of fun activities throughout the day. Corporate teams also participated in team-building activities that added to the spirit of camaraderie and friendly competition.
A special highlight of the day was the recognition of schools and corporates that demonstrated exceptional commitment to the cause through their fundraising efforts. Together with Her Excellency Madam Tessie Musalia, Madam Elizabeth Principal of Busy Bee School, as our Special Guest, presented awards to the winning schools, learners, corporates and participants.
Wema Centre extends its sincere gratitude to all participants, sponsors, partners, volunteers, schools, and supporters whose contributions made WEMATHON 2026 a success. Together, we are building hope, strengthening communities, and investing in the wellbeing of children who need it most.
