JOB SUMMARY:
The Wema Centre Trust is a non-profit Organization based in Bamburi Mombasa, its main objective being the Rescue, Rehabilitation and Re-integration of street connected children. We are looking to hire a talented screen printer with an eye for detail to oversee our organization’s screen-printing department. As a lead screen printer, you will be responsible for creating the printing design pattern, mixing the correct ink colors, loading the screen onto the printer, producing the final printed articles, and cleaning the machine after each batch. The proper use of materials devoid of wastage and protection of garments, and final presentation to customers is of very important.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive work order jobs by collaborating with clients to understand their design needs and create or adapt artworks for screen printing.
- Prepare screens for printing, including applying emulsion and exposing the design.
- Mix and prepare inks, ensuring color accuracy and consistency.
- Set up and operate printing equipment, including screen printing presses and related machinery.
- Print designs onto various materials, such as clothing, paper, or other substrates.
- Run prints and perform quality checks throughout the printing process.
- Troubleshoot problems as they arise. Inspect finished products for quality, ensuring accuracy and adherence to client specifications.
- Drying, folding, and packing completed articles after the run for dispatch to customers.
- Maintain and clean equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity
- Manage inventory of materials and equipment.
- Track sales and profitability to ensure project success.
- Follow safety and quality control procedures to ensure a clean, safe and efficient work environment.
- Promote Wema screen printing services, identify potential customers and develop strategies to acquire new orders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should have the following minimum attributes, skills and qualifications:
- Diploma in Technical Education.
- At least three years working experience as a screen printer.
- Basic computer skills
SKILLS:
- Screen Printing Expertise: You’ll need a solid understanding of screen-printing techniques, including stencil preparation, ink application, and equipment operation.
- Troubleshooting: The ability to identify and resolve issues that arise during the printing process, such as misaligned screens, ink problems, or equipment malfunctions.
- Quality Control: A keen eye for detail to ensure high-quality prints and consistent results.
- Ink Knowledge: Familiarity with different types of screen-printing inks and their properties.
- Equipment Maintenance: Basic knowledge of maintaining and servicing screen printing equipment.
- Communication: Clear and effective communication with clients and colleagues.
- Work Ethic: A strong work ethic and the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Teamwork: The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Time Management: The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
