On Friday 29th July 2016, Wema Centre in partnership with DOT Kenya held a colorful closing ceremony for 23 youth who had just concluded the StartUp! training Program. The fully sponsored program is currently being offered at Wema Centre, in Bamburi.
StartUp! is DOT’s trademark enterprise program. It focuses on developing the technology knowledge and business acumen of owners of small businesses that are developing, under stress or in transition in local communities. StartUp! encompasses entrepreneurship training, combined with access to finance through established partnerships, ongoing coaching and mentorship to support the growing number of young people who want to start or grow a business.
The ceremony, whose theme was Nurturing Young Entrepreneurs was graced by succesful young business people from the Coast Region, representatives from local Community-Based Organizations, and Bamburi local Administration. Also in attendance was youth from the Bamburi area and current beneficiaries of the Wema Vocational training program.
The participants will use the skills gained through the StartUp! program to build successful and sustainable businesses by staying connected to local market opportunities, business services, and microfinance opportunities.
Intake for the next class is currently ongoing at Wema Centre. Please visit our offices for more information.
